History of Fairview
On June 28, 1953, 27 people gathered in a vacant church building at the corner of Budlong and Orchard streets where Fairview Christian Church started. One year later, there were 120 people who were coming together to celebrate God and what he was doing in their community. On April 14th of 1957, the community of believers began to gather at the corner of Fairview and Grand where they would be for the next 40 years and experience growth in knowing God, in impacting the surrounding community, and their influence around the world. This Christ-centered community would grow from 200 to over 400 in attendance and even more so would not settle for just going to church but were learning how to be the church with its ministry.
In 1997, a huge decision was made to relocate to an old Walmart building that was now vacant. This was a huge endeavor that called all of the people to step out in faith and trust God like never before. On January 23rd, 2000, Fairview was in the new building and has never been the same. God continues to challenge the community of believers to reach out to the surrounding community and the world.
Today there are 750 plus people coming on Sunday’s but that doesn’t even come close to telling the story of what God is doing and how he continues to change lives here at Fairview. We believe that relationship building is so much more important than physical buildings so we encourage all to get involved in a small group where they can experience Christ centered community. Just like that first group in 1953 we desire to have God create in us an authentic community that glorifies Him and love people.
